Poems from Great Grandma Katie

We are so blessed to have such a sweet, talented great-grandma to our boys. She writes all the grandkids and great grandkids poems when they are born and I thought it's be fun to share them with everyone!

Kale Rodman Taylor

In the Heavenly Nursery the Storkmaster reigns,

All the stork nurses he thoroughly trains.

They may seem a bit flighty but one thing they know,

Is to have every baby ready to go.

From Florence, Mississippi there came a call

We’d like a baby before it is fall.

Please send a boy, they both specified.

And you can be sure it was soon verified.

The nurses flew around to all of the cribs,

Checking the blue and the pink little bibs.

This baby boy with his silky brown hair,

Is sure to receive much loving care.

He has ten dimpled fingers and ten tiny toes

Pink cheeks like velvet and a cute baby nose.

Dark shining eyes and red lips so kissable

But first you must ask, “Is it permissible?”

Josh is the Dad, tall, dark and handsome,

Mom Kate is so beautiful she’d bring a kings ransom.

She’s so proud of her tummy where her baby is curled

She tied it with ribbon to show to the world.

The Messenger Stork said, “Let’s get on our way.”

He planned to arrive by the end of the day.

Baptist for Women, in Jackson, MS.

He knew he could find it without any stress.

On July the ninth, in two thousand nine,

One minute before six, his timing was fine.

In Kate’s hospital room it seems there’s a crowd,

First-time grandparents and friends are so proud.

Rodmans and Aues are so excited,

Taylors and Dyess’ are simply delighted.

Friends and relations both near and afar

Send love and best wishes to the new family star.

We know that this baby is headed for fame.

Kale Rodman Taylor, what a wonderful name!

Drew Joshua Taylor

The Heavenly Nursery’s so far up in the sky

It’s hard to discover with one’s human eye.

A wise ole Storkmaster is in command

His primary work is supply and demand.

On his little stork nurses he can depend

All the help that he needs they are willing to lend.

The Taylors called in, they want a boy

The one that they have has been such a joy.

Handsome Josh and beautiful Kate,

And darling son Kale say, “please set the date.”

One little stork nurse said “this one should do

Such a cute baby and his booties are blue.”

A round little head, a fringe of dark hair,

Will it stay dark or will it be fair?

His lips are so kissable, his eyes shine so bright

(Mom hopes they’ll stay shut most of the night.)

Soft silky skin and a cute little nose,

Long slender fingers and little pink toes.

Weight seven pounds, nine, twenty and one-half inches long.

He’s very active and definitely strong.

The Messenger Stork, the one who brought Kale

Said, “This is the day, let’s hit the trail.”

To Jackson, Mississippi, the hospital the same

Baptist for Women that is the name.

12:47’s the deadline, a little past noon

We are right on target and will be there soon.

Seven minutes before his journey ends

Kate is smiling and chatting with friends.

In 2011 on March 29

The happy stork landed, the baby was fine.

Friends and relations all do agree

That he’s a Prince Charming, it’s plain to see.

Josh, Kate and Kale are so glad to say

“Drew Joshua Taylor has just made our day.”

If you want to see how the Taylor’s look
